Al Bashayer march into Ministry's Shield final

Al Bashayer Club have secured their place in the final of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Basketball Shield after a 61-50 victory over Ahli Sidab in the semifinal of the 13th edition of the 2022-23 season. The game occurred in the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex indoor courts in Bausher on Thursday.
The match saw Al Bashayer take the lead, with the team's level in the first quarter. However, Al Bashayer pulled ahead in the second quarter and despite a strong comeback by Ahli Sidab in the third quarter, Al Bashayer maintained their lead and won the game in the final quarter.
The first quarter began evenly, with both teams exchanging points. Al Bashayer opened the scoring through Aaron who scored two points from a opponent mistake, while Ahli Sidab started the scoring through Ahmed al Jahwari. The game continued to be closely contested until the end of the quarter, which finished with Al Bashayer leading Ahli Sidab 14-13.
In the second quarter, Al Bashayer began to take control of the game. Said al Saadi opened the scoring with two points after a shot from under the basket, and the team continued to make progress with a three-pointer by Bassam al Busaidy. Al Bashayer continued to increase their lead, adding nine points to their total while Ahli Sidab added just two. The second quarter ended with Al Bashayer leading 30-20.
Ahli Sidab fight back
In the third quarter, Ahli Sidab staged a comeback, putting pressure on Al Bashayer and rounding the score by adding 17 points. However, Al Bashayer still managed to maintain their lead, adding 10 points to their total. The third quarter ended with Al Bashayer leading Ahli Sidab 40-37.
In the final quarter, Al Bashayer regained their offensive and defensive strength and scored 21 points, while Ahli Sidab managed to add only 13 points. The game ended with Al Bashayer defeating Ahli Sidab with a final score of 61-50.
The game was moderated by Ahmed al Balushi as the first referee, the international Thani al Khalasi as the second referee, and Ali al Salmani as the third referee. Maryam al Zadjaliah, Hafez Awlad Ahmed, Sherifa al Zadjali, and engineer Younis al Zadjali were at the table as technical observers.
Al Bashayer Club will now face the winner of the other semifinal match between Seeb and Nizwa in the Ministry's Shield final.
