Oman beach soccer team rises to 14th in world rankings

MUSCAT: The Beach Soccer World Wide, the global beach soccer governing organisation, has released its latest rankings for beach soccer teams following the completion of two continental championships in March. The Copa America took place in Argentina from March 11-19, while the Asian Nations Cup was held in Thailand from March 16-26.
The Brazil and Argentina teams have secured their spot in the Emirates World Cup by reserving their seat from South America. In addition, Japan, Iran, and Oman have qualified for the World Cup, which will be held in Dubai in November 2023.
Brazil has taken the lead in the ranking from Portugal, reaching 2,745 points, after winning all six matches in the tournament against Argentina twice, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay and Paraguay. Argentina reached 13th place in the world because of their runners-up finish in Copa America.
In Asia, Iran entered the top 10 list after winning the Asian title, securing an eighth place with 1,503 points. Japan, the runner-up, came fourth in the world with a score of 2,103 points.
Oman have advanced to the 14th place in the world with a score of 969 points due to the successive victories achieved in the friendly matches before the Asian Cup Championship. Oman also posted victories in the recent Asian tournament in Thailand against Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Kuwait, and the UAE. Oman are now the fourth-highest ranked team in the continent, behind Japan with 2,103 points, Iran with 1,503 points and the UAE with 1,278 points. Other countries in the top 50 include Saudi Arabia at 29, Bahrain at 31, Kuwait at 37, Palestine at 44 and Thailand at 45.
Oman will take part in the Arab Cup and the World Beach Games in Indonesia's Bali as well as the World Cup in the UAE, which will give them the opportunity to enter the top 10 list.
