MoSD marks World Autism Awareness Day

 
MUSCAT: The National Autism Centre at the Ministry of Social Development marked the World Autism Awareness Day celebrated on April 2 each year, at its premises in Al Khoudh, on Sunday.

The celebration included entertaining events, singing, painting and various competitions.

The National Autism Centre, the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, provides rehabilitative and therapeutic services as well as training programmes for children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. The centre is known for high quality training provided at an integrated environment to help autistic children develop their performance to become independent and achieve integration into the society.

The centre also seeks to activate educational and professional integration services for cases of autism spectrum disorder to achieve the principle of equal opportunities, and provide internationally accredited training programmes to upgrade the skills of national cadres working in the field of autism spectrum disorder.
