Ministry of Transport begins school bus inspections

 
Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MoTCIT) has launched an inspection campaign on school transport buses themed "an integrated, safe and sustainable school transport system”.

The drive aimed at checking bus operators' compliance with the requirements of the Land Transport Law and its regulations, and ensuring the abidance by security and safety requirements while transporting students.

The ministry had reported some violations by some buses’ operators , including the non-compliance with the specifications of safety required in school buses, failure to register their buses at ‘Naql platform’ for transportation services in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to non- adherence to the technical specifications approved by the Ministry.

The ministry said the inspection campaign included checking school buses in terms of security and safety requirements, the availability of a first aid box, commitment to the tasks assigned to them, and cleanliness of school buses.

According to the ministry, the inspection campaigns are going to be carried out on a periodic basis throughout the academic year to ensure the safety of students during their daily commute.
