Let’s go for a walk

THE CHANGING WORLD OF MEN

A healthy start for myself. Spanish omelette, boiled baby carrots, steamed potatoes, brown buttered bread, and ginger-flavoured milk tea were set on the table today.

As she sat beside me, I immediately praised her for the effort because if I do not, then she would feel offended.

“Nice breakfast with a pretty lady by my side,” she smiled. Her smile has always made my day.

As I drove to work, I thought about her. I always do. I may be busy but one thing I know is that she occupies my mind.

Fifty minutes before I leave for work to go to the gym, I call her, just to check on her, and there she goes...

“What time are you coming back because I would love for us to go for a walk,” she kindly said.

Now of course, I am a bit hesitant to say yes or no. In a few minutes, I will be going to the gym and spending at least two hours working out. By the time I got back home, I would definitely be exhausted, let alone with the heavy traffic on my way.

If I say yes, she will be pleased, but I will be exhausted; and if I say no, she will complain, and I will have a bad ending to my day that started good. In short, the answer is yes. I will please her and go.

I have cancelled going to the gym so I can be on time for her.

An attractively laid-out dinner called me. Potato bechamel with minced beef and cottage cheese melted on top for a golden brown layer with broccoli. Feeling lazy, I tell her that I am ready to go for a walk.

“I know I asked for this, but maybe we can do it tomorrow because I really lost my mood,” she told me.

Confused, I get...

A loser I have become. No gym, no walk—waiting for a new day.
