Al Bashayer, Seeb qualify for OBL golden square

MUSCAT: The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex hosted two exciting confrontations between Al Bashayer Club and Ahli Sidab, and Al Seeb and Nizwa Club, as part of the competitions of the Sultanate of Oman Basketball League for the season 2022-2023. The results of these matches have determined the four teams that have qualified for the golden square.
In the first match, Al Bashayer Club defeated Ahli Sidab 74-54, after fierce competition between the two teams. Ahli Sidab started the match strong, taking a 5-point lead with shots from Abdelridha al Batashi and Ahmed al Jahuri. Al Bashayer responded with points from Mahmoud al Souli and Aaron, and the attacks continued, with Ahli Sidab leading at the end of the first quarter with a score of 22-15.
In the second quarter, Al Bashayer made a comeback and took the lead, and the third and fourth quarters saw Al Bashayer maintain its advantage and win the match.
In the second match, Al Seeb defeated Nizwa Club with a score of 85-67. Nizwa started strong, equalising after a three-pointer from Osama al Riyami, but the team continued to score more points throughout the first half, ending with a lead of 49-40. However, Al Seeb changed the game in the third quarter, adding 27 points and bringing the score closer, achieving a tie and advancing. In the fourth quarter, Al Seeb continued its offensive advantage, adding 18 points and securing the victory.
Ahli Sidab, Nizwa make the mark
As a result of these matches, Al Bashayer Club, Al Seeb Club, Ahli Sidab Club, and Nizwa Club have qualified for the golden square. The first match of the golden square will take place on March 14 at 5 pm between Al Bashayer, who are in first place with 19 points, and Nizwa Club, who are in fourth place with 16 points. The second match will take place at 7 pm on the same day between Ahli Sidab Club, who are in second place with 17 points, and Al Seeb Club, who are in third place with 16 points.
The matches were moderated by international referees Ahmed al Balushi, Issam al Siyabi and Ali al Salmani. The table officials were Jumaa al Hinai, Maya al Khabouriyah, Mahmoud al Ajmi, Majid al Akhzmi, Hafez Awlad Ahmed, Saeed al Ammari, Musa al Siyabi and Jumaa al Hanai.
