‘Rahyah’ claims golden sword, ‘Nakooh’ takes silver

‘Rahyah’ clinched the golden sword in the Institutions round, while ‘Nakooh’ snatched silver sword in the individual round at the OCRF final race competition, which concluded in Barka on Wednesday.

The races were staged at Royal Camel Corps Square in Barka in the Governorate of South Al Batinah, supervised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth with the support of Occidental Oman Company, Royal Camel Corps, Ministry of Information and Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

The concluding ceremony was held under chief guest HH Sayyid Fares bin Fatik al Said, who honoured the final day’s winners, contributors and supporters.



More than 1,600 camels took part in the final race from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, competing in 65 rounds to win 28 cars and 15 icons including the gold and silver swords.

The concluding day’s activities included an exhibition Arda race, singing on camel, camel carts and traditional arts.

The race action included four rounds, two of them for ‘Thanaya’ category for 8 km, with 10,000 rials and dagger for the first place in each round, and cash prize for the top ten. Two rounds were for ‘Alhawl’ category for 8 km, with 10,000 rials and sword for the first place in each round, and cash prize for the top ten.



‘Thanaya’ category

RCC’s Saa'ib snatched the opening round for institutions, trained by Hamad bin Salim al Jedili, with timing of 13 minutes and 39 seconds, Al Bashayer Institutions’ ‘Thagah’ came in second, coached by Jassim bin Qubaili al Muharbi. ‘Reval’ finished third owned by RCC, supervised by Amer bin Rashid al Omari.

In the individual round, ‘Tashreef’, owned by Ali bin Salim al Wahibi, claimed the title after completing the race distance in 13 minutes and 45 seconds. Maktoum bin Saad al Mahri’s ‘Rethaa’ came second and Abdullah bin Humid al Omari’s ‘Fakhama’ finished third.

‘Alhawl’ category



‘Nakooh’ snatched the silver sword in the individual round, owned by Hamad bin Mohammed al Wahaibi, with timing of 13 minutes and 31 seconds. ‘Najoom’ came second, owned by Ali bin Abdullah al Habsi, ‘Al Kahrab’ won the third place, owned by Saleh bin Eid al Qanoubi.

‘Rahyah’ clinched the golden sword in the Institutions round, owned by RCC under the supervision of Hamad bin Salim al Jedili, and recorded 13 minutes and 25 seconds. Bashayer Institutions’ ‘Al Bashayer’ was the runner-up, supervised by Humaid bin Mohammed al Jahafi, while ‘Mansorah’ finished third owned by RCC and trained by Rashid bin Salim.
