Indian opposition politician arrested in graft probe

Indian federal investigators arrested a leading politician from an up-and-coming opposition party on corruption allegations, his organisation said.

The Aam Aadmi party (AAP) is seeking to establish itself as the main opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and has already won control of Punjab state and the capital Delhi.

Manish Sisodia, Delhi’s deputy chief minister and seen as party leader Arvind Kejriwal’s right hand man, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after almost eight hours of questioning.
