Sri Lankan embassy to hold cricket tourney on April 28

MUSCAT: The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Sultanate of Oman will organise the Sri Lankan Independence Day Cricket Tournament on April 28.
To be held as part of the yearlong special commemorative events of celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Independence of Sri Lanka, the matches will take place at at Oman Cricket (OC) grounds in Al Amerat between 7 am and 10 pm.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman will be having a series of commemorative events for celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Independence of Sri Lanka from this month till January 2024.
The celebrations officially commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony at the embassy for the 75th Independence Day on February 4.
The cricket tournament is organised by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in coordination with the Sri Lankan expatriate community in the Sultanate of Oman to revamp the splendorous memories of Sri Lankan expatriates’ school life in Sri Lanka.
The BPOS Global headed by Anselm Perera in Oman will be the event manager for this tournament.
The organising committee of the tournament has introduced several sponsorship packages: the event partner as well as gold, silver, associate, media, medical, beverages, and food partners for contributing their support to make this event successful.
There will be 12 teams participating in the tournament. Each team will represent a school in Sri Lanka or a group of schools.
Each team will nominate 13 players out of which 11 players will play. For the families and kids, there will be special fun competitions throughout the day to enjoy.
