CBO High Shari’a Supervisory Authority holds 1st meeting

Muscat: The High Shari’a Supervisory Authority (HSSA) of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) held its first meeting of 2023 at CBO Head Office on Monday.
The meeting was chaired by Shaikh Dr Kahlan Nabhan al Kharousi and attended by all the members.
HSSA held detailed deliberations on various issues presented to it, which included, among others, Shari’a aspects relating to Islamic banking business and the review of different matters related to Islamic liquidity management project. In light of the discussions, HSSA provided its Shari’a opinion and recommendations.
HSSA was also briefed on the actions taken, with regard to issues discussed in its previous meeting.
In addition, Dr Kahlan Nabhan al Kharousi and Shaikh Dr Abdullatif Mahmoud al Mahmoud have been re-elected as the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of HSSA, respectively, for another term of four years up to December 2026.
