UTAS Al Musannah hosts the 22nd Rovers Camp

 
Al Musannah: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Al Musannah hosted the 22nd Rovers Camp. The five-day camp concluded on Saturday with the participation of 110 rovers and leaders from all its branches.

The camp is part of the joint activities to develop the spirit of voluntary initiatives among the rovers.

The activities ranged from expeditions, challenges, adventures, training camps, field visits to institutions, camp fire, and several cultural, sports and entertainment activities.

The camp began with saluting the flag under the auspices of Dr Said bin Hamed al Rubaie, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences.

The Dean of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Al Musannah delivered a speech on behalf of the organising committee.

A workshop was conducted on 'How to write a press release on social media ', followed by another workshop on 'The rope: Knots and ties'.



Another workshop dwelt upon on diabetes, its prevention and how to live with it.

On the event's third day, the participants went to Wadi Al Hoqain to compete in the 'Challenge and adventure programme.' They also visited Al Rustaq Town to learn about its famous landmarks.

On the fourth day, they visited Al Rustaq Sports Complex for Open Sports Day. In the evening, several workshops were held, including an introduction to the Rover Scouting movement and a workshop on planning. The day concluded with many entertainment activities. On the fifth and last day, all participants folded their tents, stored the tools, and attended the closing ceremony where all participating delegations bid farewell to each other.

The UTAS Al Musannah is hosting this event for the first time. Dr Ahmed bin Ali al Shahri, the Dean, said: 'The university administration is proceeding with plans to specifically develop and hone students' skills in various crucial activities as represented by the Rovers Camp, currently in its twenty-second edition under the motto, Rover Scouting, Revival and Giving'.
