Muscat Nights off to colourful start

 
Muscat Nights began on a colourful note on Thursday. It was opened to the public by Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidy, Governor of Muscat, in the presence of ministers and officials and the public at the Qurum Natural Park.

Muscat Nights offers seventeen nights of fun, frolic, laser and drone shows, international cuisines and amusement for families and people of all age groups.

“Muscat Nights is an effort to reflect the magical beauty of the Sultanate of Oman, the depth of its history and heritage, the urban development witnessed by the country while preserving its cultural heritage, customs and the authentic Arab traditions of the Omani people,” Ahmed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality and the Head of the Festival Committee, said , adding that the rebranded version of the Muscat Festival combines the efforts of all active official, private, and even the popular sectors in the country.

The ceremony included a show by the Royal Guard of Oman, drone and laser shows that reflected glowing paintings with lights, and a horse showjumping competition that added an exceptional experience.

The events are distributed over the four main sites: Al Qurum Nature Park, Al Naseem Public Park, Oman Automobile Association, and Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, and a special schedule of activities and shows has been prepared that will attract the largest number of audiences.

The activities of Muscat Nights highlight the depth of the originality and cultural potential of the Sultanate of Oman and the importance of small and medium enterprises. They provide space for visitors to learn about Omani lifestyles.

All four venues are open daily to the public and visitors from 4 to 11 pm, while on weekends the locations will remain open until 12 midnight, except for Qurum Nature Park, which will close on weekends at 11:30 pm.

The mega event is organised by Muscat Municipality in association with the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

At the Qurum Natural Park, a heritage village has been set up where one can see and get to know traditional and artistic Omani life. Daily laser and drone shows by well known fireworks experts are organised which will enthral audiences at different venues.

As many as 457,581 visitors comprising both citizens and residents and tourists from various countries attended the last edition of the Muscat festival held in 2019.
