CMA signs pact to support differently-abled citizens

 
The Capital Market Authority and the Ministry of Social Development have signed a permanent cooperation programme aimed at training and qualifying differently-abled citizens in areas related to the capital market and insurance sectors.

The initiative is targeted at holders of ‘Disabled Persons’ Card’, issued by the CMA in coordination with insurance companies. The card entitles holders to special packages, including discounts on insurance premiums up to 30 per cent, exemption from payment of the excess on insurance claims in the event of perils, and discounts on home insurance, travel insurance, loan insurance and health insurance policies.

The memorandum was signed at the premises of the CMA to achieve the common objects by creating community partnership for the service of disabled persons in the Sultanate of Oman to enhance the community efforts to integrate them in the community and enable them through special training and qualification programs to develop their competencies in the fields related to CMA’s business and employment needs beside providing job opportunities commensurate with their physical and mental capabilities.

A MoU to this effect was signed by Shaikh Rashid Ahmed al Shamsi, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Social Development and Shaikh Abdullah Salim al Salmi, Executive President of the Capital Market Authority.
