MUSCAT: Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information, said that the Omani media could be best defined by two key titles ‘an honest message’ and ‘ a sincere mirror’.
In an interview with Saudi Arabia’s Asharq Al Awsat Arabic-language newspaper, the minister said that the Omani media contributed to shaping social awareness and enlightenment, preserving the Omani identity with its civilisational and humanitarian dimensions. Besides, it boosted the patriotic spirit that re-invigorated the development process and spawned transformation in various fields.
He added that the Omani media remained an inspiring message, a source of knowledge and a construction tool. The media objectively expresses the traits of the Omani character and its civilisational role through the ages. Besides, the Omani media extended the bridges of brotherhood and friendship with all countries and peoples in accordance to a balanced policy.
The media track in Oman Vision 2040 is fundamental. The media has, since the national conference that outlined the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 under the supervision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, carried out transparent coverage of the discussion sessions and played a prominent role in incentivising the executive programmes that seek to find speedy and sustainable solutions of top-priority tracks such as the financial and economic situation, economic diversification and attracting foreign investments.
The minister pointed out that the Omani media played an interactive role in the backdrop of the exceptional circumstances the world witnessed. These were the Covid-19 pandemic, the drop in oil prices and the political crises that the world has recently witnessed and that affected many countries in various ways by transparently reporting what is going on in terms of plans, programmes and solutions through specialised dialogue media programmes that brings together the decision-makers and stakeholders.
