Omani adventurer scales world’s 7 highest summits

SANTIAGO: The Omani adventurer Sulaiman bin Hamood al Nabei was able to scale the highest peak of the Antarctica continent that rises approximately 5,000 metres above sea level reaching the South Pole during the same adventure.
This has made him the first Omani national to scale all seven highest summits of the world and the South Pole.
Commenting to ONA, Al Nabei said: “I began my adventure on December 2. First, I reached the South Pole, the centre of the Earth, on December 16 after covering a distance of 120 km skiing over eight days. Then, I headed to Mount Vinson and climbed it in stages. I reached the summit of Mount Vinson, the highest peak of the Antarctica, on December 24.
The adventure is part of the Grand Slam Explorer programme aimed at reaching the Seven World Summits on each continent and the North and South Poles.
Al Nabei explained that the trip was characterised by environmental and climatic conditions that are among the harshest natural factors on the face of the earth.
He summited Aconcagua in Argentina, with a height of 6,962 metres, and the highest mountain peak in the continent of Europe, which is Mount Elbrus in Russia, with a height of 5,642 metres, and the ascent to the highest mountain peak in Australia, which is the summit of Mount Kosiasco with a height of 2,228 metres, in addition to climbing the highest peak mountain in North America, which is the summit of Mount Denali, with a height of 6,190 metres, and Mount Moun Blanc in France with a height of 4,810 metres. — ONA
