Holy Quran contest winners to be feted tomorrow

MUSCAT: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, will preside over the honouring ceremony for the winners of the 30th edition of Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition 2022, on Monday December 26.
The event will be held at the lecture hall of Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
The honour of winning the first place from the first level (memorising the entire Holy Quran) was won by Faisal bin Muhammad al Balushi, while the second place was bagged by Abdullah Hajj Ateeq.
The third place was won by Imad bin Khalfan al Rawahi.
In the second level (memorising 24 consecutive parts), Muhammad bin Saeed al Ghamari won the first place, Abdullah bin Muhammad al Amiri got the second spot and Saeed bin Abdullah al Habsi won the third place.
In the third level (memorising 18 consecutive parts), Hajar bint Saleh al Kindi won the first place, Salem bin Saeed al Mushrafi the second place and the third place went to Abeer bint Muhammad al Hamdiya.
In the fourth level (memorising 12 consecutive parts), the first place was won by Ahmed bin Saif al Muqimi, the second went to Azza bint Saeed al Sawafia, and the third place was bagged by Saleh bin Muhammad al Mushrafi.
As for the fifth level (memorising 6 consecutive parts), Sarah bint Youssef al Mahrezia won the first place, Al Hanouf bint Hammoud al Nayria ranked second, and Hajar bint Jumaa al Maasabiya got the third place.
In the sixth level (memorising 4 consecutive parts), the first place was bagged by Tasneem bint Salem al Shibliyya, the second place was won by Al Mutasim bin Walid al Khazimi, and the third place went to Jumana bint Mahdi al Qasimia.
As for the seventh level (memorising two consecutive parts), the first place was won by Suhaib bin Hilal al Siyabi, the second place was crowned by Atika bint Hammoud al Naabiya, the third place was jointly won by Altaf bint Hilal al Habsiya, and Lilas bint Qais al Majrafiya.
A total of about 2,881 male and female participants took part in the competition this year. — ONA
