OOA conducts school sports and talent identification course

MUSCAT: A course on school sports and talents identification conducted by the Oman Olympic Academy (OOA) began here on Monday.

The two-day course will conclude on Wednesday.

The course aims to shed light on the importance of the stages of sports selection, and knowledge of the various techniques related to the training process and programmes for the care of sports talents, in addition to recognising the role and importance of school sports as the main base for discovering talents.

Dr Majid bin Saeed al Busafi, Director of the Humanitarian Research Centre at Sultan Qaboos University, is lecturing in the course, and more than 20 male and female teachers from Oman School Sports Association, and public and private schools are taking part.

The course includes theoretical lectures and practical applications in several fields, including the scientific foundations and principles in the process of selecting sports talents.

The course will also review international experiences in discovering talents, and addressing the stages of sports selection, as well as recent studies and research in talent discovery.
