Impact of atmospheric depression begins

The low clouds brought scattered rain in some parts of Oman. The impact of an atmospheric depression was experienced over the Sultanate of Oman, leading to the flow and formation of clouds over the northern governorates, with possibilities for scattered rain over Musandam Governorate, on the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman, and parts of the Hajar Mountains.
“Most of the northern governorates are covered under high clouds, but chances for rain are expected only in Musandam, North Al Batinah and Al Buraimi. Muscat is under high clouds, but no rain is expected,” explained the weather forecaster at Oman Met Office on Sunday evening. Until the evening, rains were not experienced, but he pointed out there were strong chances. The weather is to continue in this pattern till Tuesday.
There was a continuation of the flow of high and medium clouds over the northern governorates with activity and the formation of clouds on the Hajar Mountains, the coasts of North Al Batinah and parts of Musandam Governorate, as well as on the mountains and coasts of Dhofar Governorate.
Earlier, Oman Met Office had alerted on fog conditions stating, “The spread of fog and low clouds over parts of the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar may lead to a decrease in the level of horizontal visibility, so please pay attention.”
The weather forecast also stated that there could be the flow of clouds of different heights over parts of the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah and Muscat.
Along the coasts of the Oman Sea, the winds were north-easterly light during the day and variable light at night. While the western coastal areas of Musandam Governorate, the winds were southwesterly light to moderate, occasionally fresh and across the rest of the governorates, it was easterly to southeasterly light to moderate.
The wave height was slight to moderate at Musandam Coast.
