Electricity production in Oman rises 1.6% by end of August 2022

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s total production of electricity increased by 1.6 per cent till the end of August 2022 to reach 28,527 GW per hour, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Governorate of Dhofar recorded a rise in electricity production by 8.5 per cent, to reach 2,847.4 GW per hour till the end of August 2022. The governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah recorded an increase in total electricity production by 6.3 per cent to reach 18,559.8 GW per hour.
Oman’s net production of electricity till the end of August 2022 went up 1.5 per cent to reach 27,604.2 GW per hour. The net figures are inclusive of purchases by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAEC).
The highest volume of net electricity production was recorded by the Governorate of Dhofar, which surged by 8.9 per cent to reach 2,713.1 GW per hour. The governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah recorded a rise by 6.2 per cent to reach 17,927.1 GW per hour.
Meanwhile, water production in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 5.4 per cent to reach 341,092.1 million cubic metres by the end of August 2022.
The governorates of Dhofar and Muscat recorded a rise by 8.7 per cent and 8.6 per cent in water production, respectively, compared to the corresponding period in 2021.
