OIA explores investment opportunities in Riyadh

The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) participated in the sixth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) held last week in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During the event, OIA held a meeting with a group of international investors under the theme ‘Your Partner in Potential’, in which investment opportunities were presented to investors, especially on OIA’s subsidiaries operating in different sectors such as the technology sector and the food sector, in addition to informing the investors of the Sultanate of Oman’s attractive geographical and natural features. OIA also presented visual presentations and examples of successful global investment partnerships that the OIA signed this year with the aim of creating an opportunity to attract with these investors.

Abdulsalam bin Muhammad al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority, said in a welcome speech that the Sultanate of Oman, along with the other GCC countries, constitute ideal destinations for global investors. He shared many investment trends and stressed the competitive advantages of the Sultanate of Oman beginning from its location overlooking the open seas that connects the east of the world with the west and north and south, and the world-class infrastructure that provides all what the investor needs. The country also has a clear legislative environment that supports businesses and attracts investment.

Al Murshidi emphasised that the Sultanate of Oman focuses on sustainable economic diversification and building a strong and vibrant economy. In order to achieve this, many initiatives have been implemented to attract foreign investment, such as providing a residency programme for investors, the foreign investment law and others, and the OIA looks forward to reaching with investors and discovering investment opportunities that can lead to partnerships with them.

The meeting also featured a presentation on the experience of the US companies Myco Technology and Crusoe Energy in partnership with the OIA this year. OIA and Myco Technology established, in May this year, a joint venture that will use locally-grown date to produce high-quality mushroom based protein. The JV also plans to build a factory in Oman. Meanwhile, OIA announced in June an investment pact with Crusoe Energy, which aims to produce clean energy from gases emitted from oil and gas fields torch.

The sixth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) was held on October 25-57 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, under the theme of ‘Investing in Humanity: Enabling a New Global Order’ with the attendance of 6000 participants and 500 speakers.
