Rare surgery conducted on breast cancer patient

 
MUSCAT: Khoula Hospital succeeded in conducting a constructive surgery on a woman suffering from breast cancer. This first-of-a-kind surgery applied the new technique of microflap surgery, by taking tissues from the abdomen and reshaping them to form a new breast after total mastectomy of the patient. It was the first such instance in Oman.

The surgical team was led by Dr Shaikhan al Hashmi, Consultant at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Burn Surgery, Khoula Hospital.

The patient left hospital after a week from its date. -- ONA
