PDO shine, Al Maskariya bags gold in women’s bowling

Muscat: Sarah al Maskariya snatched the gold medal for the masters and individual categories in the 14th edition of the Women’s Bowling Championship at Al Noor Bowling Centre.

The tournament was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth represented by the Women’s Sports Department in cooperation with the Oman Committee for Bowling.

Nine teams participated from various governmental and private institutions including Petroleum Development Oman, Muscat Municipality, Oman Electricity Transmission Company, Mohammed al Barwani Holding Company, Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company, Worli Engineering Company, Royal Court Affairs, Okio Company and Omran Company.

Petroleum Development Oman team snatched the first place in the general category and the Worli Oman Engineering Company team won second place, while the third place went to the Oman Electricity Transmission Company team.

Eng. Nahla bint Abdulwahab al Hamdiya, head of the Economic Committee of the State Council, sponsored the closing ceremony. As many as 35 players participated in the singles competitions, 28 players in the doubles competition, and 16 players in the masters category.

Sarah bint Nader al Maskariya from the PDO achieved first place and won the gold medal in the singles category, Aziza bint Omar al Braikiya from the OETC claimed the silver medal, while the third place was won by Tamader bint Issa al Balushiya from Worli Oman Engineering Team.

In the doubles category, Aziza al Braikiya and Zahra al Rawahiya from OETC snatched the gold medal, the second place was won by Sarah al Maskariya and Heba al Nabeehiya from PDO and Tamader al Balushiya and Fatima al Zadjaliya from Worli Oman Engineering claimed the bronze.

Petroleum Development Oman won gold medals in team competitions, while the silver medals snatched by Worli Oman Engineering, Muscat Municipality team claimed the bronze medals.

In the masters category, Sarah al Maskariya won the gold medal, while Aziza al Braikiya took the silver medal.
