Sohar Aluminium celebrated on Thursday the inauguration of its Sohar Industrial Training Institute in the presence of Shaikh Hamed bin Khalifah al Abri, Wali of Liwa, and officials and executives from public and private sectors.

The event started with a speech by Said al Masoudi, Sohar Aluminium’s CEO, who highlighted the establishment and development phases of the institute since it was incepted as a training centre to being upgraded to an officially credited institute.

Al Masoudi said: “The establishment and development of this institute springs out of our deep belief in the importance of investing in human capital, and its long-term return. Despite the institute's short life, it was able, through the efforts of its team, to train a large number of employees and contractors, not only the company, but even neighbouring private and public institutions, as well as a number of organisations and companies in the aluminium sector from outside the Sultanate of Oman.” The event also included an overview of the programmes and training services provided by the institute, and a graduation ceremony of Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belts trainees from the company and other organisations as well.

This institute is considered one of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman in the industrial sector and has been approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and Ministry of Labour.

Sohar Industrial Training Institute is one of its kind in the Omani industrial sector.
