Shotokan karate inter-club tourney concludes

MUSCAT: The indoor karate championship competitions organised by the Shotokan Karate Centre concluded at the sport hall of the Jaber bin Zaid School in Al Watayyah on Saturday, with the participation of 85 male and female players representing the centre’s branches in the Governorate of Muscat.

The championship competitions were conducted by a team of international and national judges from the Shotokan Karate Centre, where the players were distributed according to their ages into several categories, namely: the male category of 16 years and above in kata, and categories (6-15 years old males) in the kata and kumite, as well as the female categories of (6 years to 15 years old) in kata and kumite.

At the end of the tournament, a medal awarding ceremony was held for the first three places in each category, under the patronage of Jihad bin Abdullah al Sheikh, Vice-President of Oman Sports Club, in the presence of a large number of parents.

The Shotokan Karate Centre holds this tournament annually with the aim of providing the players with more experience, friction and competition among themselves and to keep pace with the updates added to the international karate rules. The members, instructors and players of the Shotokan Karate Centre extended their sincere thanks to the management of Jaber bin Zaid School in Al Watayyah in the Wilayat of Muttrah for the constructive and fruitful cooperation and contribution to the success of such events that motivate youth in the sports field.
