Seminar prepares students for new school year

 
NIZWA: A seminar to prepare for the new school year was held for students and widowed mothers of low-income families at Al Diyaa Hall Nizwa last week.

The seminar, which was organised by Nizwa Charitable Team and the Omani Women's Association in Nizwa, was held under the auspices of Dr Aflah bin Ahmed al Kindi, assistant professor of University of Nizwa, in the presence of teachers and volunteers.

The seminar opened with a speech by Dr Taiba bint Abdullah al Kindi. She welcomed the audience and thanked the institutions for supporting this event. She said orphanhood is not a sign of deficiency or injustice, and one must be content with what Allah has ordained.

Muhammad bin Yahya al Kamiani, a student, presented verses from the Holy Quran. Another student Manaf bin Muhammad al Qasimi recited a poem about science.

The sponsor of the ceremony honoured many top performing students and their widowed mothers who worked hard for their children.

Dr Raya al Harassi gave a presentation on the readiness of schools to receive students and the importance of communication with students.

The event concluded with an interactive presentation by Maria bint Nasser al Mandhari, in which she focused on how to study with passion and enthusiasm.

It included the distribution of books for mothers and children.

The event was an opportunity to know more about destitute families and the needs of the students.
