OCO initiates support to flood victims

Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO) spearheaded charity and humanitarian aid for the people of Pakistan, which underwent the deadliest floods in its history.
Two-week-long floods have affected more than 33 million people and nearly 3.4 million children across the country following the record monsoon rains that have submerged over a third of the country.
According to the OCO sources, the funds and charity aid collected so far will be shipped to Islamabad next week.
'We will be shipping the collected materials and provisions to Pakistan next week,' the OCO representative said.
The efforts to collect relief aid from people to support the victims of the disastrous floods bore fruition as the initiatives under the OCO saw an overwhelming response, and people from different walks of life contributed to the same.
Meanwhile, charity efforts were evaluated, and the ambassador of Pakistan held meetings. Charity initiatives evoked a good response in the capital city as well as in Salalah.
'With due gratitude to the government of the Sultanate of Oman, we are glad to note that there has been an overwhelming response to our calls to support the flood victims in Pakistan and we are truly thankful to the Sultanate of Oman and the general public from across the world,' Imran Ali, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Sultanate of Oman, said.
UNICEF says the nearly 11-day-long rains impact 16 million children, and 3.4 million are in need of humanitarian support.
