Over 57k teachers return to schools for new academic year

Teachers, non-teaching, administrative, and technical employees in all governorates of the Sultanate will return to schools as per the ministerial decision (146/2022), which specified the date for regular vacations for faculty members and students for the school year 2021-2022.

Students return to school on September 4, which will also mark the resumption of a normal opening for an academic year that was badly impacted during the 2020-21 and 2021-23 periods due to precautionary measures imposed to limit the spread of Covid-19.

A total number of 57,033 teachers, including 17,396 male teachers ((30.5 percent) and 39,637 female teachers(69.5percent) will return to the work, apart from 10,834 technicians and administrators.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the General Directorate of Curriculum Development said that most textbooks will be available in time this year, apart from two books that are printed abroad.

He said that there have been changes in the curriculum for the 11th grade with regard to certain subjects.

According to the director of the Human Sciences Curriculum both institutions and parents have been demanding for expansion of the curriculum

The Ministry of Education has received three of the five approved school buildings in Liwa, which will be activated during the academic year 2022/2023 to keep pace with the expected growth in the number of students.
