Consumer disputes over unpaid labour top recoveries in Al Buraimi

The Statistical Indicators Report issued by the Consumer Protection Department in Al Buraimi has revealed that the amounts recovered, following investigations into consumer complaints, totalled RO 44,640 during the first half of this year.
Recoveries linked to unpaid labour services topped the list at RO 37,630, followed by issues related to the furniture and furnishings sector RO 1,250.
The report stated that recoveries from other sectors were: aluminium workshops, blacksmithing and carpentry – RO 1,205; electrical and electronic appliances sector – RO 1,035; clothing, textiles and services sector – RO 490; vehicle repair workshops – RO 387; spare parts – RO 251; automotive and services – RO 250; and tyres – RO 124.
In additional, administrative fines imposed on commercial establishments amounted to RO 1,550 for committing a number of violations, including raising prices without obtaining approvals, and non-compliance with commitments to provide the agreed service.
