MoU for training Omani students

Muscat: The Australian Business Group Oman (ABGO) together with the Ambassador of Australia to Oman, Mark Donovan welcomed a business delegation from Australia recently.
One of the key focuses of the delegation was education, and in particular, vocational training.
TAFE Queensland (TAFE) is an internationally recognised leader in vocational training.
The TAFE delegation was led by Russell McKay, Executive Director, International Development.
During the visit to Oman, TAFE signed a MoU with Tamara Overseas to provide contextualised training to the Omani students and workforce with the added goal of securing permanent employment for TAFE graduates.
The accredited training TAFE will be provided to the Omani community and will be based on market demand in existing and emerging industries.
During the visit TAFE met with senior ministry officials and key industry bodies.
A highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Tamara Overseas LLC.
One of the chief objectives of the MoU is for TAFE to provide contextualised training to the Omani students and workforce with the added goal of securing employment for TAFE graduates.
The accredited training TAFE will be providing to the Omani community will be based on market demand in existing and emerging industries.
The Australian Ambassador highlighted what TAFE means to Oman; “I’m very proud that this important step has been taken between TAFE Queensland and Tamara Overseas and to know
that world leading Australian vocational education and trades training will soon be available to Omanis.”
In discussing the role/potential of TAFE in the Sultanate of Oman, McKay stated “At TAFE Queensland we are committed to the Global Sustainability of the vocational education and training sector. We are enthusiastic about working with Oman and sharing our Australian expertise while learning from Oman’s own education sector.”
According to the ABGO Chair, Mac Thomson “ABGO looks forward to the positive contribution that TAFE will make to vocational training in Oman, and to the future gainful employment of Omanis.
Further ABGO is developing many more business activities to promote relationships between Oman and Australia.”
