EA rescues injured vulture

 
Muscat: The Environment Authority (EA), represented by the Office for Conservation of the Environment (OCE), in cooperation with the Environment Society of Oman (ESO), released a lappet-faced vulture found injured in Sareen Nature Reserve.

According to EA, the injured vulture was rehabilitated in a breeding centre over a period of ten days after it was rescued and treated medically.

The bird was equipped with a satellite-tracking device to track its movement, determine its geographical location, its migration path, and study its behavior.

The eagle is one of the endangered species, according to the classification of the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN.

It is worth noting that international and local environment institutions are working on completing a joint collaborative research project to study and track the lappet-faced vulture.
