Staying in a convoluted position in yoga for 33 minutes controlling the breath is almost an impossible task for the ordinary.

But a Muscat resident has proved that practice can really make one do such feats as she broke the online world record by staying in Karnapidasan for 33 minutes.

J Sree Vaishnavi, a class 8 student of Indian School Muscat (ISM) who has been practising yoga since she was just five, has got her name etched in the annals of yoga championship records on International Yoga Day recently.

She has many other credentials to her credit, and this is her third world record. She came first in 'Online World Record' for maintaining maximum time in Upavistha Konasana on April 19, 2019, for 26 minutes 39 seconds at the Indian Embassy and the same posture was recorded in Limca Book of Records.

She bagged the Second Online World Record for maintaining a maximum time of 15 minutes and 46 seconds in Rajakapotasana - Full pigeon pose on December 28, 2019 at the OWR Campus in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu.

She received the second prize in 2020 and first prize in 2021 at the School level yoga competitions conducted by the Indian Embassy on International Yoga Day.

Vaishnavi also chants Patanjali Yoga sutras first and second Pada.

She has completed Yoga Alliance 200 hours teacher training in yoga.
