World experience for Omani swimmer at FINA World Swimming Championships

MUSCAT: Oman’s swimmer Nasser al Kindi is taking part at the on going World Swimming Championships which will conclude on July 3 in Budapest city in Hungary. Al Kindi will debut in the high profile swimming event after achieving top records in his local and regional participation.

The World Swimming Championships is one of the most powerful world championships, organised by FINA, the world swimming governing body, and occur every four years with the participation of more than 2,500 swimmers representing more than 180 countries.

Al Kindi is one of the potential local youngster swimmers as he participated in four times at GCC championships for different ages including in the 10-year category. He took part at the 25th Aquatics Championships for GCC countries, which was hosted in Qatar in 2015.

In the category of 13-14 years, he participated in the 17th Open Water Swimming for GCC which was held in Kuwait in 2019. He also attended in the category of 13-14 years in the 15th edition championship of swimming for short basins (25m) for GCC, which was held in Kuwait in 2019. Two years later, he participated in the 15-17 years category in the 28th Aquatics Championships for GCC in Qatar.

The Omani swimmer participated in the local championships. He achieved first place for the category of 13-14 years (2 km) in the 13th Oman Open Water Swimming Championships which was held in Sur in 2019. Also he participated in the 14th Oman Open Water Swimming Championships in Musandam in last March where he achieved first place in the category of 15-17 years and third place at the general level in the same tournament.
