Shura Office reviews Council of Ministers’ response

Muscat: The Office of Majlis Ahs’hura held its 15th regular meeting of the third annual session under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, on Tuesday.
The Office reviewed a response provided by the Council of Ministers to a report on the promotion delay of the graduates of Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB).
The Office also reviewed the Council of Minister’s response to the report and recommendations of Majlis Ash’shura on the topic of ‘regulating the industrial sector, the manufacturing sector as a model’. In its reply, the Council of Ministers explained that the government is attaching great importance to the industrial sector to enable it to realize the strategic programmes of the Tenth Five Year Development Plan (2021-2025).
The office also reviewed the Council of Minister’s response to the expressed desire on ‘upgrading the basic skills of Omani youth according to the needs of the labour market’. The Council of Ministers stated that the concerned authorities pay great attention to developing the basic skills of Omani youth and is endeavouring to prepare them to handle the changes, adding that the concerned authorities carried out programmes, initiatives and projects with the aim of providing the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge that enable them to cope with the labour market.
During the meeting, the Office of Majlis Ash’shura discussed a number of reports submitted to it by the standing committees including the report of the Health and Environment Committee on the expressed desire concerning plans for handling environmental damages resulting from adverse weather conditions. The report recommended working on strategic measures such as knowledge management and capacity building. The Office decided to include the report in the agenda of the meeting of Majlis Ash’shura.
Also discussed at the meeting was a report prepared by the Health and Environment Committee on the establishment of a unit for environmental observation and protection as well as the committee’s report on the Ministry of Labour’s plan for employing the graduates of medical and assisting medical specialties.
The Office discussed the Media and Culture Committee’s report about the establishment of an interactive digital cultural platform in line with the strategic cultural plan which is included in the Oman Vision 2040.
The meeting also discussed the report of the Youth and Human Resources Committee on the expressed desire for amending the mechanism for the employment-related training programmes. The report included several recommendations related to the financing of training programmes. The Office decided to include the report on the agenda of the next session of Majlis Ash’shura.
