OTTA ties up with Qurayat club for talent centre

Muscat: The Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) signed a two-year contract with Qurayat club to establish a TT junior talent centre.
The tie up between both parties came up as part of OTTA’s efforts towards boosting TT in the Sultanate of Oman and expand the number and categories of participants in the sport. Also, the objective of the partnership is to have a potential player who will represent the national TT teams in the near future.
The signing function took place at the headquarters of the Quriyat club on Tuesday in presence of board directors of OTTA and Qurayat club. Abdullah BaMukhalef, OTTA chairman, signed on behalf of OTTA while Mohammed bin Khalfan al Musharafi, chairman of Qurayat club, represented the club party.
With the signing of Qurayat junior TT talent centre, the number of centres are being increased in different sporting complex and clubs including Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex centre, Al Saada Complex in Salalah, Ibri, Saham, Seeb and Salalah club. The forthcoming centre will be in Yanqul club after finalising all the pre-requirements ahead of signing function.
According to the agreement clauses, the OTTA will provide all the technical and logistics support to the club including four certified TT tables from Stag International brand while the club will ensure allocating a proper venue to accommodate all the tables and players.
The OTTA is also committed to supply the club with the required materials of balls, racquets and sporting outfit to technical staff and players. The TT body will cover the expenses of the club’s players during the internal and external camps in case of selection of any player from the club. The partner’s club will receive 30 per cent discount rate from the international vendor Stage International on different related TT materials.
Abdullah BaMukhalef, OTTA chief, affirmed post the signing ceremony that OTTA is very keen to provide all the technical and logistics support to the domestic clubs towards development of TT in the Sultanate of Oman.
“We are working hard to ensure reach of table tennis in all the wilayats of Oman. These junior centres are perfect venues for developing a young professional TT player. They will be guided with the basics and fundamentals besides professional training in later stages by experienced coaches with the presence of the national TT team in the centres. I hope all the players will adhere with the training sessions and programmes to reach the best technical levels,” he said.
On the other hand, Mohammed bin Khalfan al Musharafi, chairman of Qurayat club, appreciated all the hard work taken by the OTTA chief and board members to spread TT in different sporting complex and clubs.
“We are very glad to have this tie-up with the OTTA and I would like to thank them for all the logistics support to prepare the junior TT talent centre in Qurayat club. The club signed a deal with Syrian coach Mohammed Showman to lead the TT team in the club. I am confident that the newly appointed coach and his assistant Ali al Sinani will take the team to better positions in the forthcoming period with players commitment and discipline. Later, we are looking forward that these players will be an added value to the national teams,' he ended.
