OFA appoints Hilal as Executive Director & Secretary General

The Oman Football Association (OFA) announced on Thursday the appointment of experienced sporting administrator, Hilal al Sinani, as executive director and general secretary of OFA.

Al Sinani, who hails from Sur, replaces Fahad al Raisi, who served in the same post since February 2021.

On Thursday, OFA organised a farewell function for Al Raisi at headquarters of OFA in presence of Shaikh Salim al Wahaibi, the OFA chairman, and board director members.

Al Raisi applied for the resignation based on his own request. During the meeting, the chief and members appreciated all the efforts taken by the executive director and general secretary of OFA during his tenure. Al Raisi contributed positively towards development of Oman’s football competitions during the past few months despite a short period of time.

The former Secretary-General of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) for two terms will lead the general secretary post at OFA.

It is expected that he will bring more accomplishment to Oman’s football as he has a wide experience in the sporting field. Besides that, he had served in oil and gas sector companies as senior management post including his long service at Oman Liquefied Natural Gas LLC (Oman LNG).

Moreover, he played an efficient role of Oman’s hosting of the Asian Beach Games in 2010. Besides that, he was among the organising committee for Olympic torch presence in Muscat ahead of Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

On the other hand, OFA announced recently the agenda and timing of 2022-23 season of domestic competitions. As many as eight local competitions will be featured this season including the top-flight league which will begin on August 18, 2022 and end on May 14, 2023.

His Majesty Sultan’s Football Cup championship will start on October 7 and will conclude on March 9, 2023. The forthcoming season will witness beach soccer league, first division league, U-20 league, U-17 league and MG Cup.
