Seeb overwhelm Al Ansar to reach semis

MUSCAT: Oman representatives Seeb booked a place in the AFC Cup 2022 West Zonal semifinals as they thumped Lebanon’s Al Ansar 4-0 at Seeb Stadium late on Tuesday.
The victory helped the domestic double title holders reach six points to lead the Group A.
Three times champions Kuwait SC played out goalless draw with Jableh SC of Syria to exit from AFC Cup 2022 at the group stage.
The Kuwaiti team ended at five points in second place while Jableh SC of Syria came third with four points and Lebanon’s Al Ansar finished in the bottom with one point only.
The Muscat-based team will take on Kuwait's Al Arabi, the Group B winners, in the semifinals of the West Zonal.
Dhofar, the second Oman team in AFC Cup, hopes to progress into second round ended after a 1-1 draw against Kuwait’s Al Arabi SC. Dhofar ended in third place at four points while Al Riffa of Bahrain advanced as the best runners-up as they registered a 3-1 win over Shabab Al Khalil in a thrilling encounter in the concluding fixture of Group B at the Kuwait SC Stadium.

Serbian coach Boris Bunjak, head coach of Seeb, thanked all the players for their top show and high efforts during the final encounter in group games. “A great recognition for all the squad members to what they showed during the whole season. The team players were fully focused in the concluding game despite leading 3-0 at the break. I am very proud of them'', he said after the match.
“We are champions of the domestic double of league and HM Cup competitions. Seeb team players are like one family but we need for sure some new young potential faces to have refreshed energy for the forthcoming season. However, the new squad members need to be fit in within this family so the synergy will continue'', he said.
Coach Bunjak affirmed that team’s style and level did not change during the past games. “The players implemented all the technical instructions of training sessions on the field very professionally. Five young players entered after the break in the last game and showed the same style and level besides that players performed with the same intensity'', he concluded.
