India, Australia to supply 180,000 tonnes of wheat to Oman

Salalah Mills Company, the largest flour mill firm in the Sultanate of Oman, says it has awarded contracts for the procurement of 180,000 tonnes of wheat from India and Australia. The deliveries are expected during the next three months, said Ahmed bin Alawi al Dhahab, CEO of Salalah Mills Company.
In a statement to ONA, the official said that the contracted quantity is sufficient to meet its requirements until the end of this year. The grain carrier 'Valiant Summer', laden with a first shipment of 66,000 tonnes of wheat, has just left the left the Indian port of Kandla and is currently heading to the Port of Salalah in Dhofar Governorate, he said.
Al Dhahab added that Salalah Mills is currently looking to cover its wheat needs for the first half of next year 2023. The company operates with a production capacity of 1,500 tonnes per day and imports more than 400,000 tonnes of wheat annually.
