As the rose season of Jabal Akdhar came to a close, our team in Oman Observer visited Bait al Asarh located in the village of Saiq known to be one of the hotspots for rose harvests. The family had been passing the knowledge of the roses and rose water making to the last three generations of the family. What we discovered is that the farmers had also become entrepreneurial as of late and as the demand rises for the memorable experience of the rose harvest and rose water making, the more they had become more adept at becoming great hosts and providing a true experience of what they know best.

For this visit, we were welcomed by the house owner who had just come from the gardens to pick up the last batch of roses. When he discovered that our team wants to shoot him while he make rose water, even late in the afternoon, he just fixed his muzar, uncrumpled some portions of his clothes and with a big smile, walked us through the process. I realised that their frequent interactions with content creators had prepared them so well. Suffice to say, we came home with new knowledge regarding the seldom-seen parts of a rose farmer's life. These learnings cannot be shared, they only needed to be experienced to be understood. So next time that the rose season comes, visit Jabal Akhdhar and make sure to pass by Bait al Asarh. Or you can follow them on Instagram @bait_asarh for updates.
