Availability, affordability of commodities reviewed

 
MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion held a joint meeting between a number of competent authorities to ensure the availability of basic food commodities in the local market.

The meeting, headed by Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, in the presence of Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Salim bin Ali al Hakmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), representatives from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and officials and representatives of the government and private sectors, reviewed developments and the availability of basic food commodities in the markets in the Sultanate of Oman, the most important of which are wheat, rice, sugar and vegetable oils.

The meeting also reviewed the mechanisms established to ensure price stability and the availability of all basic materials.
