Scattered rain with thunder in several areas of the governorates of North and South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah and Al Dakhiliyah, accompanied by active downward winds and hail, were experienced on Wednesday.
The weather report for Thursday forecasts an advection of medium and high clouds over most of the governorates with a chance of convective clouds development and isolated rain occasionally thundershowers over Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas towards the afternoon.
There are chances of late night to early morning low-level clouds or fog patches over parts of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.
A thunderstorm advisory issued by the Oman Met Office indicated storms in Ibra, Bahla, Shinas, Mahdha, Bukha, Rustaq, Ibri, Saiq, Al Sinaina, Samayil, Nizwa, Al Hamra, Izki, Jabal Shams, Liwa, Suwaiq, Buraimi, Madha, Suhar, Khasab, Dibba and Yanqul.
There has been continuous formation of cumulus clouds over parts of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah, with chances of rain, and thunderstorms at times, accompanied by active downward winds and hail.
Throughout this week, there has been the formation of cumulus clouds on Al Hajar Mountains and the neighbouring areas. Their extension has been towards the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman with thunder rain accompanied by active winds and hail falling.
The Oman Met Office urged the public to pay attention as there could be the possibility of flying objects that are not fixed, and the level of horizontal visibility could be reduced during thunder rain.
On Tuesday, there was a flow of high clouds over separate parts of the governorates, and local clouds formed over the Hajar Mountains brought in scattered rain.
The Met Office alerted that clouds will continue to flow over the northern governorates over the next two days, with chances of scattered rain, which may be thunderstorms over parts of the Hajar Mountains.
Meanwhile, Al Amerat recorded the highest temperature at 41 degrees Celsius, followed by Seeb, Dibba, Fahud and Rustaq, recording 40 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperature was recorded in Saiq, with 23 degrees Celsius high and a low of 16 degrees Celsius.
