Haj e-registration to open on May 9

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs has announced that the e-registration of citizens and residents for Haj 1443 AH will be open from May 9 to 14, 2022. Registration can be made through the electronic system (www.hajj.om).

The ministry added that the registration can be through the ID number or ID card or mobile number.

As for the conditions and controls for Haj registration through the electronic system, the ministry added that the applicant must be at least 18 years old and under 65 years old.

The ministry said that the applicant must meet the conditions and controls of the target group for Haj, and who has completed taking the doses of approved vaccines for coronavirus (Covid-19), with a certificate endorsed by the health authorities in the Sultanate of Oman, and submitting a negative PCR result taken within 72 hours prior to travel time to Saudi Arabia.

The quota of the Sultanate of Oman in 2022 is 6,338 pilgrims, reducing the number by 45 per cent due to the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic.

'Registration for Haj will open on the electronic system and those who want to do this year's Haj need to register on the website'', a spokesperson from the ministry told the 'Observer'.

The spokesperson further indicated that the registration process is done through the link directly during the specified period, as the system provides three methods for direct registration (registration by entering the civil number, personal card or mobile phone number if the ID card and phone card are supported by the certification system e-mail 'pki').

He added that contractors and Haj companies are prohibited from interfering with the registration of those wishing to perform Haj to ensure transparency and pilgrims are given the freedom to choose the Haj company of their wish.

REGISTRATION FOR WOMEN

The ministry clarified that a woman's registration in the system must be preceded by the registration of one of her mahrams for Haj this season, and the registration will be based on the civil number recorded in the personal card, provided that it is valid.

Also, he further said that the applicant must use his personal mobile phone number during the registration process to receive text messages from the system or personal e-mail, which is the considered means for communicating with any procedures or notifications and their consequences.

SOCIAL SECURITY

Performing Haj on behalf of those fall under the 'beneficiaries of social security' category can do so in coordination with the ministry.

'Registration for availing the aid from the Haj committee for people under the beneficiaries of social security category is possible and one needs to coordinate with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Social Development', he added.

The ministry has set up a hotline for technical support and inquiries through 80008008 during official working hours or submitting a report via the notification screen in the electronic system for registering pilgrims of the Sultanate of Oman via the link www.hajj.om/contact.
