MUSCAT: Mwasalat, one of the companies of the Asyad Group, launches its tourism programme “A Day in Nizwa” during the Eid al Fitr holiday, and it includes regular bus trips from Muscat to Nizwa to provide an exploration tour of its cultural, civilisational and archaeological landmarks.

Mwasalat said that the trips start from the second day of Eid al Fitr and continue until the fifth day of Eid, and that the buses depart from the company’s station in Athaiba in Muscat Governorate and head towards the Wilayat of Nizwa in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah.

The daily trip will be operated from May 2 and 5. The bus will start from Athaiba Bus station at 7 am and return to the same place at 5 pm.

Mwasalat has introduced this service in response to the increasing demand for visiting Nizwa, which is one of the most preferred domestic destination for tourists and residents alike, in addition to highlighting the pivotal role that public transportation can play in revitalising and facilitating domestic tourism to attract new segments of visitors and contribute in activating the role of this sector.

The tour is scheduled to begin with a visit to the most prominent places in the wilayat, especially the historic Nizwa Castle and the Nizwa Archaeological Market to learn about its role in trade throughout history, and to know about the work of Omani traditional craftsmen. It also includes recreational breaks with a selection of cultural activities and folk arts that shed light on ancient heritage.

The tour continues with a visit to Al Aqar neighbourhood, which dates back to 1,500 years, using electric tourist carts. - ONA
