Fibre optic infrastructure for Sorouh integrated neighbourhoods

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has signed an agreement with Oman Broadband Company for the laying of passive fibre optic infrastructure across the Souroh integrated neighbourhoods planned in the Sultanate of Oman.

As per the agreement, Oman Broadband will establish, operate and lease the passive fibre optic and communications infrastructure. The goal is to provide communications and fibre optic services to anyone requiring an internet connection.

The agreement was signed by Eng Hamad Ali al Nazwani, Under-Secretary for Housing, and Said Abdullah al Mandhari, Chairman of Oman Broadband.

Eng Saud al Hashimi, Director General of Real Estates Development in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, said the agreement comes within the framework of providing services for the “Souroh” initiative.

Al Hashimi added that three new integrated neighborhood projects will be established within the “Souroh” initiative in Al Amerat, Bidbid and Halban. Those initiatives will contribute to reducing the cost of housing units and making them accessible for all people. (With inputs from ONA)
