Children exchange love and goodies during Qaranqasho

There was fun, laughter and cheers in the air when nearly 1,000 children gathered after iftar and prayers to celebrate the Qaranqasho at the Ahli Sidab Club on Sunday.
They sang, danced and vied in a diverse number of activities filled with fun and competition where everyone was feted and sweets and goodies were distributed.
Above all, there was unity in the air, and urged every human being to be united for the goodness of the world, by the DJ.
Qaranqasho is a celebration for children in the Arab world developed to keep the children who fast motivated, and is celebrated in the middle of the holy month of Ramadhan and is one of the most prominent customs passed down through the generations.
It aims to draw joy on the faces of children, reward them and encourage them to fast. It also achieves and enhances social communication and instills it in them.
'There has been a tremendous response from the children and their parents to the Qaranqasho. I feel this overwhelming reception was due to the fact that such events were not held for the last two years due to the pandemic,' Nawal al Balushi of Magical Events which conducted the mega Qaranqasho.
There were more than 1,000 children and their families at the spacious Ahli Sidab Club in the Wilayat of Sidab.
Children of the Arab world celebrate Qaranqasho which is a colourful social tradition by children who are dressed in their best and with a great amount of joy on their faces, visit homes in groups and move through the lanes singing folk songs related to this beautiful tradition inspired by the authentic Omani heritage. The hosts of these children welcome them with sweets and gifts and share their joy.
'Children from different wilayats celebrate Qaranqasho with dance and music and foods and gifts while elders refresh their acquaintances in the neighbourhood,' said Huda al Zakwani, a media professional with Oman Radio.
