Economic diplomacy plays crucial role in attracting investments

MUSCAT: Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, emphasised the important role of economic diplomacy undertaken by Oman’s embassies in various countries. He added that the role of economic diplomacy has begun to bear fruit whether in attracting investment or facilitating trade exchange between Oman and the brotherly and friendly countries. He noted that the business environment in Oman is helpful and attractive.

This was stated by the Ministry of Economy when he presided over Ramadhan evening organised by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) to discuss the role of economic diplomacy in attracting investments and promoting the Sultanate of Oman internally. The role undertaken by Oman’s diplomatic missions in various countries in boosting foreign investments and augmenting Omani exports by opening more international markets for Omani products.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, said that the efforts made by the Foreign Ministry are complementary to other entities as are aimed at promoting economic diplomacy and attracting investment and boosting tourist arrivals.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave his Royal directives to the embassies of the Sultanate of Oman to intensify their efforts in order to place economic diplomacy as one of the main pillars of the embassies’ work. Al Harthy said adding that the Foreign Ministry and the diplomats have become increasingly aware of the economic work and there is a constant follow-up to the outcomes of this work.
