Bangkok: The Euro-Asia coaches cooperation, a truly historic joint project aimed at fostering the education of coaches working with young players and wishing to upgrade their skills, got into full swing on Tuesday, with enthusiastic and qualified coaches including four from Europe, attending this once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity.
Oman’s representative Dr Shihab Aldin bin Ahmed al Riyami is among the AVC Expert Team.
The opening ceremony was held in Busara Room at Alexander Hotel in Bangkok, with Gen Ronnachai Munchusoontornkul, Deputy Secretary-General of National Olympic Committee of Thailand, AVC Honorary Life Vice-President Shanrit Wongprasert, himself AVC Executive Director, and Somporn Chaibangyang, President of Thailand Volleyball Association, jointly presiding.
“Welcome all participants to Bangkok, Thailand. On behalf of AVC, I’m very pleased and honoured to welcome all of you to the opening ceremony of the Euro-Asia coaches cooperation project. Since the main activity of the project will be held within the end of this year, it is very important to create the best instructors to lead the coaches from Europe and Asia who will attend this project. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to European Volleyball Confederation President Aleksandar Boricic and all CEV staff for your kind and continued coordination with AVC and AVC staff even though we knew that this period is not so easy because of the Covid-19 pandemic which made us very difficult to work together.
“Because of this great collaboration and support, the project has been running smoothly and we can count it as a continuous programme between Asia and Europe, AVC and CEV. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to NOC of Thailand, Sports Authority of Thailand, Thailand Volleyball Association President, and FIVB Development Centre for this great contribution. AVC will continue supporting the project in every aspect and wish the best success of this course for the preparation of the most important target before the end of 2022. Wishing you all a very pleasure staying in Bangkok and a safe trip back home after the course,” she was quoted as saying in her speech.
