The discussion focused on the implications of Covid-19 on education, encapsulating several vital ideas and recommendations that would shape the future of education.

During the discussion, Dr Sivakumar said the pandemic has not dampened the spirit of enthusiasm among Indian Schools -- enhancement activities pertaining to scholastic and non-scholastic domains have been successfully conducted during the last two years. He also mentioned teachers and counsellors indeed deserve sincere appreciation for their efforts in handling this unprecedented situation. Samriddhi Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching is introduced to serve as a nodal resource center for the teachers to develop their professional and digital literacy skills along with numerous transformational academic programmes like skill-based training programmes such as touch-typing.

Dr Krian mentioned that online learning itself is a skill and that the success of online learning would depend on how we can blend it properly so that the overall learning experience is enhanced. He also pointed out that the pandemic has shown the significance of flexibility in education mechanisms, pushed for more collaboration and brought more realisations about the nature and implications of education. He reminded that youngsters should understand the purpose of education, and accordingly, the sector needs to work together to come up with innovative practices to ensure true educational experiences.

Dr Mathew Philip noted that the pandemic had connected classrooms with the world on a large scale with more research and scholarly collaborations. The pandemic has made many realisations to the education system like (a) Educational institutions are not just a place but a collaboration of people to support the learners; (b) Flexible and humanised options according to students' career choices and aspirations are highly needed in the future; (c) Teachers need to look for designing learning environments more creatively suiting to each learner; (d) Teachers are to be more equipped and trained; (e) A competency model is required by combining knowledge, skills and attitude to create meaning and purpose of education.
