8.1% rise in electricity production in Oman by December 2021

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s production of electricity increased by 8.1 per cent by the end of December 2021 to reach 41,409.6 thousand GW per hour compared to the end of December 2020, when the total production was 38,341.4 thousand GW per hour, according to the data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah recorded the highest rise in electricity production from 24.5 GW per hour by the end of December 2020 to 389.1 thousand GW per hour by the end of December 2021. The Governorate of Muscat came second by recording a growth of 24.1 per cent, followed by the Governorate of Al Wusta by 24 per cent.
The electricity production in the Governorate of Dhofar fell by 5.6 per cent from 3,823.9 thousand GW per hour to 3,611.7 thousand GW per hour. The Governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah recorded the highest volume of production which reached 25,688.6 thousand GW per hour.
The governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah came second by 9,209.9 thousand GW per hour. Meanwhile, water production in the Sultanate of Oman went up by 2.1 per cent to reach 484,726.7 million cubic metres by December 2021 compared to 474,561.3 million cubic metres by the end of December 2020.
Water production in the Governorate of Muscat rose by 2.2 per cent. Other governorates also recorded an increase of 3.8 per cent, except for the Governorate of Dhofar which recorded a drop by 3.5 per cent by the of December 2021 compared to the same period of 2020.
