Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's policies that stress resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy are important in the current context, said Shashi Tharoor, a former UN diplomat and currently an Indian lawmaker.
'Former Undersecretary General of the United Nations told the Observer, 'I have seen the Sultanate of Oman closely at work for a long time, especially during my stint at the UN. I know Oman has been a voice of moderation and it believes in deliberation, the voice of peace, doesn't believe in fireworks, it believes in calmness, harmony, and co-existence, which are very important, especially in the context of what we are suffering today.'
This is my sixth or seventh visit to Oman in the last decade and it is just beautiful as it was always. People are also upbeat about the economy now that the oil and gas prices have gone up, he said.
He was speaking at the Badr Al Sama Group of Hospitals' 20th Anniversary, which was also attended by Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed al Saeedi as the chief guest.
In his keynote speech, Dr. Tharoor said, “You have merged your talents and commitment with the resources and capabilities of Oman and of course with its leadership exemplified by the Sultanate of Oman’s Minister of Health and the ministry to produce such impressive results so rapidly.”
