Seeking to support the diversification of crop cultivation and farming activities, as well as boost private sector investment in the agriculture industry, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has unveiled investment opportunities in the governorates of Al Buraimi and North Al Batinah. These opportunities centre around seasonal feed and potato farming, the Ministry said in a post on Tuesday.

In Al Buraimi Governorate, the Ministry has identified around 300 acres of land for seasonal crop cultivation in two locations in Wilayat Mahdah. In North Al Batinah Governorate, around 200 acres have been allocated for potato farming in three different locations in Wilayat Al Suwaiq.

Interested investors have until March 17, 2022 to submit their offers.

By encouraging investments in the agricultural and farming sectors, the Ministry is keen, on the one hand, to support the Sultanate of Oman’s food security objectives, while on the other, open up opportunities for job creation as well.

The Ministry sees significant commercial potential for investment in commercially valuable fruits and vegetables based on the use of modern farming and irrigation methodologies.
